Correction
Scalability: More nodes would not solve this. Blocks occur roughly every 10 minutes and have a fixed size. Layer 2 protocols such as Lightning potentially could increase scalability.
Creating the Bitcoin network is not arduous or slow, it has gotten to this point in only 17 years.
